This is a fantastic mitt for the money, but be forewarned that it is built TOUGH. The leather is much stiffer than the typical mitt that can be taken off the shelf and used the next day. You will need a couple of weeks of break-in with lots of oiling and molding before it is game-ready.
This mitt is a tremendous value. Very high quality, equal to or better than the other top brands for a fraction of the cost. Thick tough leather really takes the sting out, have caught high 80s with no sting. Easy to form a nice “box” pocket. Nice and light, and stays that way if you lay off the oil. But that thick tough structure comes at a price- it’s a rock when new and takes a LOT of work to break in. Plan on catching with this thing for at least a month before it is really ready for game play. Could also be tight on really big hands until broken in. Mine are average, and it was tight over the pinkie knuckle the first session. But the Velcro adjuster provides a wide range of adjustment, and after catching a couple sessions I needed to snug it up a little more. Good design-works as great as it looks.
Glove is better than expected. I was not sure if would be good for high school father based on reviews from younger players and parents. This glove is a very good Mitt for a high school catcher. Performs better than any Mitt in its price range. It is a great glove for anyone who can't spend 350.00 on a Mitt. It is execellent in performance and it's manufacturing. Great glove
My 12yo son loves this glove. He will be able to use it for the next several years. It took a little while to break it in, but it is working great now. After someone else suggested it to us, we went to a local batting cage and had him catch fastballs (with gear on) to accelerate the break in process. We did not use any glove oil or anything else like it.
01/26/18: You never really know what you are truly getting when you order online, but this glove is better than expected. This had some really good write-ups which is why we chose to go with this love for my son going into High School. We were looking for something that could take the punishment of everyday play yet still hold together. Glove is sturdy and well put together. We will begin the break in process and I will keep you posted.
Very well built glove that will last for a long time. Not quite the top of the line model, but it will be great for anyone looking to get a number of seasons out of a glove. Need to put in some time to break it in though, so be ready for many games of catch and some serious work to get this game ready
I’ve been working with it for about a month now and I really like it. Good price for the equipment. Long break in. Loud noise when you catch the ball - makes pitches sound fast. Pretty cool
Works and feels great. Next catchers glove will be another All Star.
Glove is great but had markings on it , like it was used. We emailed to have it replaced but we were told it was their last one in stock and this was our sons big Christmas gift, so we decided to keep it.
