Eons ago I was a first baseman. I now have kids going into Little League baseball/softball and couldn't find either of the gloves I used as an adult to practice with them. My old Tee-Ball era glove which I could find was just not cutting it for practicing with the kids, so I decided to pony up for a new glove to allow ample time to embarrass my creaky old self with the youngsters. I wanted something I could enjoy with the kids as well as potentially use in a recreational slow pitch softball league in the future. With this being a baseball glove I was worried a bit about the size, however. After getting the glove I think it will be fine, as I have definitely used smaller utility gloves for those purposes in the past, and this seems better suited for the task. The few softball specific gloves I found available as a lefty didn't inspire me, so I went with this one. I was torn between this and cheaper options, but finally splurged on this with some birthday fun money I had initially saved with other intentions. I am very happy with the results. The glove arrived soft enough to use but not so much that I worry about it becoming too loose/floppy after extended use. It is definitely a quality manufactured glove.I have been breaking it in with an 11" softball as a compromise between its future duties with my kids, and I can't seem to wipe the grin off my face whenever I pick it up. There has been some black dye on the ball I am using for break in, but it wipes off easily with a damp cloth. There has been absolutely no dye on my hand or anything I have sat the glove on thankfully. (I am not an oil/oven/microwave/bulldozer break in guy...just use it.)My only negative to this point is that the internal thumb loop could have been designed a bit better. There are a couple of edges on the loop which create a slight hot spot on my knuckle, which seem like they could have been handled differently to allow a solid smooth surface to contact the thumb. This will more than likely break in soft enough to become unnoticeable, but I had to mention it as my only issue to this point.Fit was great for my relatively large hands. For a potential point of sizing reference, I typically wear a 2XL or size 11 motorcycle glove from most manufacturers.Overall, I am very happy with the quality for the money spent. It looks to be a contender for the last glove I ever buy for myself.**UPDATE After First Season of Use**I ended up using this a bit more than expected after volunteering to be an assistant coach for my son's team. I stand by my initial impression of this being a solid glove for the money. It broke in easily without going so soft as to render it useless. My initial negative regarding the pressure point on the thumb loop turned out to be a non-issue as hoped. Within a week of use the thumb loop softened up enough to be unnoticeable. While there are obviously higher end options available for substantially more money, for under eighty five bucks at the time of purchase I have no regrets. Have fun out there.
